The announcement was made via a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 5, by his campaign spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng.
“Official Update: Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has officially picked nomination forms to contest in the 2026 NPP Flagbearership race,” the statement read.

Agyapong’s latest move comes as no surprise to political observers, as he has consistently expressed interest in leading the NPP and, by extension, the country. His participation in the party’s 2024 presidential primaries, where he emerged as a strong contender, laid the groundwork for his renewed ambition.
Sources within his team indicate that the core pillars of his 2026 campaign will once again focus on discipline, patriotism, and economic transformation — themes that resonated with a significant section of the NPP grassroots and wider electorate during his previous campaign.
Known for his outspoken nature and unfiltered political commentary, Agyapong remains a polarizing yet influential figure within the party. His entry into the race sets the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive flagbearership contest as the NPP prepares for life beyond the current administration.
