Can Diploma Holders Apply for 2026 Teacher Recruitment?

Many prospective applicants have been asking an important question following the release of the 2026 Ghana Education Service recruitment notice: can diploma holders apply?

The answer is yes, but with specific conditions.

What GES Has Stated

According to official recruitment details, the Ghana Education Service has opened applications for qualified graduates, including those with education-related qualifications.

Importantly, the eligibility criteria clearly state that applicants can apply if they possess any of the following:

A Bachelor of Education degree
A Bachelor’s degree with PGDE or PGCE
A Diploma in Basic Education

This confirms that diploma holders are not excluded from the recruitment process.

Which Diploma Holders Can Apply

Not every diploma qualifies automatically. The Ghana Education Service specifically recognizes trained teachers with a Diploma in Basic Education.

This means applicants must have completed a recognized teacher training programme, usually from a College of Education.

Additionally, diploma holders must meet all professional requirements, including:

Completion of National Service
Passing the teacher licensure examination
Possession of a valid NTC teaching license

These requirements are mandatory for all applicants, regardless of qualification level.

Important Conditions You Must Meet

Even if you hold a diploma, you must satisfy the full recruitment criteria to be considered.

Applicants must be in good standing with the National Teaching Council and demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills.

They must also be willing to accept postings to deprived or underserved districts, as the recruitment exercise is focused on addressing teacher shortages in such areas.

Documents Required for Diploma Holders

Diploma holders applying for the 2026 recruitment must prepare the following documents:

Diploma certificate in Basic Education
National Service certificate
NTC license
Ghana Card
Passport-sized photograph
Active email address and phone number

All documents must be uploaded online in either image or PDF format during the application process.

Key Insight for Applicants

Although diploma holders are eligible, competition is expected to be high. Candidates with additional qualifications or strong teaching competencies may have an advantage during selection.

Applicants are therefore encouraged to present accurate information and ensure all required documents are properly submitted.

Final Thoughts

Diploma holders can apply for the 2026 Ghana Education Service recruitment, provided they hold a Diploma in Basic Education and meet all the required conditions.

This opportunity remains open to trained teachers who are ready to serve and contribute to improving education across Ghana.
