Thomas Partey Granted Conditional Bail Over Multiple Rape and Sexual Assault Charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning to face multiple serious charges, including five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international, who officially departed Arsenal in June following the expiration of his contract, is accused of offences involving three women. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the alleged incidents occurred between 2021 and 2022, during Partey’s time with the North London club.

Details presented in court allege that Partey raped one woman twice, another three times, and sexually assaulted a third. The charges have sent shockwaves through both the football community and the Ghanaian public, where Partey has long been a prominent national team figure.

A report by Mirror.co.uk described Partey’s courtroom appearance as subdued. He wore a black zip-neck jumper and stood quietly in the dock with his hands behind his back. The court imposed several bail conditions, including a strict ban on contacting any of the alleged victims and a requirement to notify authorities of any permanent change of address or plans for international travel.It was revealed during the hearing that Partey is close to finalizing a move to Spanish La Liga side Villarreal. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring acknowledged this development, stating, “I understand he’s no longer employed in this country and playing in Spain now.”

Partey’s legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, reiterated his position of innocence, stating, “Mr. Partey denies all the charges against him and is looking forward to finally clearing his name.”

The case has been transferred to the Old Bailey, with the next hearing scheduled for September 2, 2025.
