Ghana Sends 40 Tonnes of Cocoa Aid to Palestine. In a poignant humanitarian gesture amid the escalating crisis in Gaza, the Government of Ghana on August 1, 2025 officially delivered 40 metric tonnes of premium cocoa‑based food items to the people of Palestine. The donation ceremony took place at the Jubilee House in Accra, where President John Dramani Mahama personally handed over the shipment to Palestinian Ambassador Abdul Fattah Ahmed Khalil al‑Sattari.

A Symbol of Solidarity Amid Gaza Crisis

The cargo, primarily consisting of Ghana‑made Golden Tree chocolates and other cocoa products, was described by President Mahama as both a symbolic and practical contribution. Symbolically, it reflects Ghana’s enduring friendship with Palestine and the resilient values of Ghanaian agriculture. Practically, cocoa serves as a nutritional superfood—rich in antioxidants, essential minerals like iron and magnesium, and vitamins that support immune health, cardiovascular well‑being, and emotional resilience. President Mahama Reaffirms Support for Two-State Peace Solution

President Mahama emphasized Ghana’s belief in peaceful resolutions, reaffirming support for a two‑state solution in line with international law and United Nations resolutions, while calling on all parties to engage in dialogue rather than violence. He also urged Israeli authorities to open Gaza’s borders to ensure humanitarian aid can reach civilians in need.

Ambassador al‑Sattari expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people, highlighting how the chocolate would bring comfort and morale to communities enduring severe food shortages. “If they only see the chocolate, it will bring happiness. If they taste it, it will bring even more joy,” he said, noting the impact of starvation due to the ongoing blockade and conflict.

The initiative was coordinated through collaboration between the Ghana Cocoa Board, Cocoa Processing Company, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, demonstrating Ghana’s commitment to combining diplomatic outreach with its national commodities sector.

President Mahama also paid tribute to the Palestinian diaspora in Ghana for contributing to local development, particularly through building educational infrastructure in underserved Ghanaian communities such as Dramani Kope and Yizebisi. He closed with a message of hope and solidarity: “To our brothers and sisters in Palestine, know that you do not walk alone. Ghana stands with you. May peace prevail.”.

Ghana’s gesture blends compassion, symbolism, and diplomacy—sending not just cocoa products, but a message of unity and shared humanity. Ghana Sends 40 Tonnes of Cocoa Aid to Palestine.
